The COVID-19 apps were built in partnership with the BC Ministry of Health, the BC Centre for Disease Control and HealthLinkBC.

This tool will determine whether you may need further assessment or testing for COVID-19. Updates will be made as provincial guidelines evolve to ensure that you are assessed with the most up to date recommendations. Health Canada will be receiving anonymous data insights to help inform and manage the public health response to COVID-19.

The app provides updates from the Provincial and Federal Ministries that may impact you. A self-check tool is available in the app to enter and monitor your symptoms, and receive resources to support you.

Collection Notice

Your personal information is collected by Thrive Health Inc. on behalf of Ministry of Health under the authority of the Public Health Act and sections 26(a), (c) and (e) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act for the purposes of providing COVID-19 related information and screening, and for the management of COVID-19, via the Thrive Health platform.

Thrive Health will only use the personal information it collects for purposes related to supporting the Ministry of Health in managing COVID-19 and will not retain your personal information for any other purposes. For the use of scanning QR codes to view businesses’ COVID-19 Safety Plans, the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Competitiveness will receive aggregate data to help inform and manage the response to COVID-19.

How do I use the COVID-19 App?

Does the tool share my personal health information with anyone?

Personal health information is anonymized to provide population health data for the BC Ministry of Health. The purpose of this data is to help provide more accurate, up to date information to aid the government in keeping us all informed.

How do I know this is a secure platform?

We follow Privacy by Design practices by enforcing privacy and security measures that consistently meet health organization requirements. We also conduct regular privacy and security training for our employees. We meet or exceed the requirements of FIPPA and follow data security and privacy standards that align with HIPAA, PIPEDA, and NIST conformance guidelines.

The infrastructure we use to store patient’s health information is wholly located in Canada and is implemented in accordance with provincial and federal privacy legislation. Our infrastructure provider is Sas 70 Type II, ISO 27001, and HIPAA compliant. You can read more about our privacy policy here, and our privacy notice here.

Is Thrive Health a doctor’s office?

We are not a doctor’s office. Thrive Health is a Vancouver based software company, and we have partnered with the Health Canada to create the COVID-19 App.
